This is a once in a life time opportunity to join a local manufacturing and engineering company as an operations manager. Based in the heart of High Wycombe this role has become available due to the relocation of the current employee. I have recruited for this company for many years and this is a wonderful and challenging – yet rewarding role to apply for.

The main purpose of this position is to manage and coach the manufacturing, operations and engineering departments. You will be focused on continually improving all areas and developing a team that deliver with consistency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Operations, manufacturing, assembly and engineering
  • Forecast production output v sales monthly
  • Provide leadership, encouragement, training and support in order to help others achieve their results and meet their targets
  • To be the appointed person responsible for ISO procedures
  • Ensure all manufacture and assembly achieves the highest quality standards in line with the company's quality procedures ensuring all documentation and labelling etc. is completed and records maintained
  • Organise the factory labour resource to meet the demands of the fabrication & pro-duction schedule
  • Agree new supplier and procurements
  • Ensuring compliance to all environmental, health and safety goals and objectives

  • Liaise with supply chain on improving relationships and reduce lead-times
  • Liaise with Sales department to ensure that the company's requirements are fulfilled

Levels of Authority:

  • Factory overtime approval
  • Approval of supplier payments
    • Weekly payroll approval
    • Approve Hire of equipment
    • Capital purchases for tooling
    • Repairs and maintenance
    • Recruitment of temporary and full time staff
    • Management & Discipline of reporting staff
    • Approve credit notes
    • Maintenance of factory and buildings

To be successful in the role you will be:

  • Educated to degree level in engineering or business administration
  • Qualified in NEBOSH / IOSH managing safety
  • Capable with electronic business management systems including:
  • Inventory control
  • Stocktaking
  • Material forecasting
  • An experienced factory/operations manager from a manufacturing background in ideally in metal, machinery etc.
  • Able to work without supervision with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good people management skills (soft & hard)
  • Able to motivate, train and lead teams of people in different disciplines
  • Able to deal with conflict and resolve to a positive outcome
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, commercial and technical
  • A proven track record in new business and business development with strong commercial acumen
  • Able to effectively communicate targets and expectations to others
  • Advanced understanding of the products on offer
  • Using your strong questioning skills to deeply understand client needs, spot opportunities to increase revenue and close deals
  • Work with the Managing Director to support new business and R&D projects to maximise opportunities
